Joyful Chaos
Yesterday was a horrible day. Alexis was really sick and not doing well at all. After being up at Huntsman Cancer hospital last night, getting all new medications and hoping she would get some relief from the nausea, bone pain and yucky taste in her mouth. I felt like she was a newborn last night. I was so worried about her so I kept checking on her every 2 hours to see if she was breathing, feeling her head to see if she had a fever and helping her to the bathroom all night long. After my 4 am check I was beyond fatigue. I went back to bed. I felt like I had only blinked my eyes when I heard Alexis arguing with her dad over the remote control. I opened my eyes and began to blink back “happy tears”. I knew if she was being feisty with her dad over the remote control, she had to be feeling better. In the next few minutes I felt her slip into my bed with me. As I put my arms around her, and her Kitty of course, Alexis did not have a fever for the first time in days. The next thing she said to me was, “mother I am starving!” I love those words. I told her to go ask her dad to take her to all you can eat French toast. I did not know if she would do it because her appetite has been almost obsolete, but she did. Off she went to eat breakfast with her dad. When they pulled out I was just bursting with joy! My little Alexis was up, hungry and feisty as ever. What a huge relief! Like I said, I woke up to “Joyful Chaos” and I love it!

Michelle,
I read your post and it brought tears to me because I feel for you as a mom. One of the hardest jobs in this life is being a mom. Our job never ends and always things set for us to do. We love it and would not trade anything for it but it sure is not easy. You are a wonderful mom, wife, and friend. Thank you for your strength and love. Steve and your children are blessed to have you as his wife and their mom. I'm grateful to know you and watch your example to us. You have taught Alexis what she needs to get through this experience on her journey. I love you and feel for you as a mom. You keep up the great work. You are in our prayers, well your whole family.
